How Trendy Treats Cracked the YouTube Growth Code to 1B+ YT shorts views

Hello everyone! It’s Thomas AKA createwithtom.
Back in August, I had the privilege of touring Trendy Treats and diving into their founding story. 🎬🍬
This isn't just another YouTube success story—Trendy Treats has generated over 7 figures in revenue 💰 and grown to more than 4 million YouTube followers. 📈
Trendy Treats

They're one of the fastest-growing channels this summer, gaining over 20,000 subscribers a day and averaging 500,000 new followers each month since May. 🚀

What’s really wild? They built this from the ground up, grinding away for years before hitting the explosive growth we’re seeing now. 🔥
Today, I want to dive into how they've used YouTube Shorts to rack up over 1 billion views in just a few months. 👀📲
What I love about them is their creator-first mindset. 🎥 They focus on making content that grabs the most attention, then tie it back to their products. It’s a fresh approach that makes them tough to replicate. 💡
Curious to see how they've cracked the code? Let’s get into it. 💥
What started the popularity: Figuring out YT shorts:

Dive #1:
If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out Dive #1.
Stats: 150M views in the past 3 months!
Right from the start, the video grabs your attention with a high-pitched sequence showing the rapid expansion of mini cotton candy. It’s the kind of visual that makes you want to stick around just to see what happens next.
Then, they introduce the ASMR effect as the team tries different candies they’ve expanded through dry freezing. The sound and visuals keep the engagement going, as the candy grows to an almost absurd size. It’s one of those “how big can this get?” moments that keeps viewers locked in.
But the real hook? At the end of the video, everyone’s thinking the same thing—how is this guy going to eat all that candy? It’s way too much for one person, and that curiosity keeps people watching until the last second.
So why is this a win for the brand?
First, the huge view count sparks curiosity about who these creators are. And second, with their product catalog easily accessible, viewers who want to engage more can dive in and make a purchase.
Dive #2:
GIANT FREEZE DRIED PEACH RING FAIL

This video follows a similar formula to their most popular one.
It starts with a normal-sized peach ring being expanded, showcasing the satisfying visuals and sounds that come with it. They repeat this process twice, emphasizing the ASMR-like appeal.
Then, they up the ante by introducing a massive peach ring, with the same person eating it. What they’ve clearly learned is that viewers love watching this familiar face consume an oversized, freeze-dried candy—it's a simple formula that consistently grabs attention and keeps people engaged.

30 LBS freeze dried candy fail
Now we know the strategy: ASMR is effective.
They have a unique opportunity because they have the perfect machine to enlarge the candy. They see that making and eating large candy works.
From the video, it seems the channel was already making content a year ago but hadn't had a "viral" moment. They were freezing a lot of products.
Looking at the top videos, it appears that focusing on a single item and its enlargement gets the most reach.
Three years ago, they were still posting videos, but they didn't hit the mainstream on YouTube Shorts.
In the past two years, they started gaining traction and had millions of views on some videos. Some videos even got less than 1,000 views, but they persevered and kept posting!

With their recent success, everything is on the rise. They are significantly increasing their brand's reach and demonstrating that it's possible to build a DTC brand by reaching a large audience through organic content creation.
And before I end this I do want to confirm that their candy was amazing. My friends and I were able to leave with plenty of treats to enjoy.
